Hot Stone Massage             $250
January 3rd  Friday 6:00 to 9:00PM & 4th Saturday / 5th Sunday  9:00AM to 5:00PM
Hot stones have been used for thousands of years in many cultures for healing.  Participants will
Learn how to safely include hot stones into their therapeutic practice. Basic sanitation, principles of thermotherapy, and contraindications will also be discussed.  Basic stone strokes will be applied to a full body massage outline. The workshop times on Saturday and Sunday will be hands on intensive.

Deep Muscle Massage
January 10th and 11th   Saturday & Sunday   9:00AM to 5:00PM  $175
This 2 day hands on course provides emphasis on proper body mechanics, stroke speed, and approach angle. These techniques enable the therapist to apply deep tissue work with little physical effort, and at the same time minimize wear and tear to the wrists and thumbs. An emphasis is on correct use of the forearms and elbows. These skills can be added into existing sequences or be modified for a more gentle massage.

Soft Tissue Release (STR)*

Learn techniques and skills to address and alleviate soft tissue problems related to
Whiplash, neck pain, frozen shoulder, thoracic outlet syndrome, carpel tunnel, tennis elbow, lower back pain, sciatic pain, knee pain, and more. These techniques can be as stand alone methods or incorporated into your massage routine.

Reflexology 1
January 24th and 25th Saturday & Sunday  9:00AM to 5:00PM   $150     Open to public
This introductory weekend provides a firm foundation for learning reflexology. The emphasis is on hands on practice in which you learn a full application sequence for foot reflexology, using techniques such as thumb walking, finger walking, and relaxation methods. Studies include history, reflex/physiology correspondences, theory, contraindications, basic foot anatomy, and common foot problems.

Reiki Level 1              
January  30th to Feb 1st, Friday 6:00 to 9:00PM & Saturday / Sunday 1:00 to 4:00PM  $125 Open to public
Reiki is a form of bodywork and energy medicine that accelerates healing, relieves pain, relaxes and restores well being. Reiki also remains a powerful tool for spiritual healing and growth. Practicing Reiki encourages a constant awareness of our connection to the spirit.  During this course you will learn the history of Reiki, receive 4 attunements to increase the flow of healing energy, practice giving Reiki to yourself and others.  You will also receive a textbook and certificate of completion.

Acupressure & Magnet Therapy
February 1st   Sunday  9:00AM to 5:00PM     $125                    Open to the Public
Acupressure is used in many Eastern massage techniques to relieve pain and balance the energies of the body. Additionally, magnets have been used increasingly in Europe and Australia in cases of chronic pain when other bodywork techniques have not helped. In this workshop you will be presented with basic acupressure techniques combined with magnet therapy. You will learn about the types of magnets used for therapy, locations of where to place magnets, and other magnet modalities.

Tai-Chi Workshop
February 8th    Sunday 9:00AM to 1:00PM   $25                Open to the Public
Tai Chi has been practiced in China for centuries a method for relaxation, meditation, and health.
In this workshop you will learn the basic Tai-Chi stances, postures, and practicing the beginning
section of the Tai-Chi routine. You will also learn Qi-Gong (“chi-gong”) a practice related to Tai-Chi
and gain a better awareness of one’s own breathing.  You will come away from this workshop with
an awareness of your posture and a better understanding of Tai-Chi.

Couples Massage
February 14th Saturday  & 15th Sunday  9:00AM to 5:00PM    $200 for both people        Open to the Public
Couples will enjoy this 2 day workshop about therapeutic massage. Couples massage will emphasize the gift of giving and receiving bodywork to each other by learning a basic full body routine employed by massage therapists. Couples will learn how to apply basic massage strokes, and gain a better understanding of massage and each other.

Aromatherapy
February 21st & 22nd Saturday & Sunday   $150       9:00 to 5:00PM                 Open to the Public
Aromatherapy is the study and blending of scents and essential oils. In this workshop you will learn what the essential oils are, their characteristics, and uses.  Topics explained are the history and use of aromatics, the properties of essential oils, blending techniques, choosing the correct carrier, and contraindications.   You will also get to blend, or mix a combination of oils to create entirely new scents to deal with stress, inflammation, insomnia, muscle aches, and other ailments.

Reflexology 2
February 28th & March 1st    Saturday &  Sunday 9:00AM to 5:00PM  $150            Open to the Public
This level expands beyond the foundation work in technique, theory, practical application, and knowledge. Specific conditions and case studies are reviewed in terms of reflex areas. Substantial hands on time is used to learn techniques for hand reflexology, acupressure point application, addressing plantar fasciitis problems, and assessment of structure and function related to anatomy of the hands and feet.

Infant Massage

Newborns and infants are extremely receptive to touch and touch therapy. They react extremely well to massage. And this one day workshop teaches you the essentials of giving an infant massage.

Integrated Energy Therapy – Level 1 (Continuing Ed. credits available)

Integrated Energy Therapy (IET)  is a natural hands on healing technique. Geriatrics Massage
March 8th  Sunday       $75
Our elderly population is in need of touch therapy and this massage class addresses that issue. This class will discuss how to adapt massage to the elderly, talk about how health issues will modify your massage, adapt to the needs of the elderly, and positioning of the elderly client.

Massage Cupping
March 14 Saturday    9:00AM to 5:00PM  $125
Massage cupping is an ancient technique that can has found use in today’s spas and salons.
By creating suction and negative pressure, massage cupping is used to release soft tissue,
Drain excess fluids and toxins, loosen adhesions, lift connective tissue, and bring blood to
stagnant skin and muscles.

Pregnancy Massage
March 15th Sunday  Sunday 9:00 to 5:00 PM              $75
During pregnancy the body undergoes many changes that pregnancy can help with. In this class students will cover how massage is adapted for the expecting mother, preparation for labor and birthing massage, and massage during the postpartum and nursing stages. The course will be taught by Heidi Bauder who specializes in pregnancy massage.

Reiki 2
March  20th  to 22nd, Friday 6:00 to 9:00PM & Saturday /  Sunday 1:00 to 4:00PM  $150.00  Open to  public
The advanced course builds upon knowledge and experience of Level 1. Reiki 2 involves both the mental and emotional patterns that can affect progress through life. Learn how to send Reiki to someone absent or at a distance, and to do intuitive energy therapy. During this course you will; receive additional attunements, learn distance healing symbols and their uses, learn how to send Reiki to heal the earth and others.

Thai-Yoga Massage
March   28th & 29th  Saturday &  Sunday 9:00AM to 5:00PM   $175
Thai Yoga Massage has been used for centuries in Thailand to prevent and alleviate muscular pain. Thai Yoga massage is done on a mat with the client clothed. The therapist uses their body weight to apply pressure while guiding the client through a series of yoga poses. Rhythmic pressure assisted with passive stretching is used to relax muscles. Thai massage is a wonderful, relaxing massage that rejuvenates and energizes the client.

Herbology
April 18th and 19th   Saturday and Sunday  9:00 to 5:00PM     $250                        Open to public
In this workshop you will learn the basics of herbology, herbal body care, and plant medicine. The students will be taught how to make lotions, oils, balms, salves, bath salts, milk soaks and other products. Medicinal tea making, tinctures, Elixers, capsules, and other basics of plant medicine. Broaden your health care knowledge with this informative workshop of working with plants.

CPR Training
May 10th   Sunday  10:00AM to 2:00PM  $25                    Open to  public
In this course the participants will be introduced to CPR  basics in accordance to guidelines given by the Red Cross.  In CPR Training the participants learn how to respond to conscious and unconscious individuals,  choking victims, people having trouble breathing, CPR, and using automatic external defibrillators.  Participants will receive a booklet, skills card, and certificate card.

Reiki 3
May 22nd 6-9,  and May 23 and 24 from 1-4PM   $295
In this workshop the students will learn how to master and eventually teach Reiki. The student will also
learn about advanced interpretation of the Reiki symbols and their meaning.  Additional attunements
will be addressed for the practitioner. This final phase of Reiki teaching will enable the student to move
into Reiki Master level and further develop their Reiki abilities.

Integrated Energy Therapy - Level 2

This class provides attunement to the Intermediate IET energies that will activate the 3rand 4th DNA pairs
and will empower you to pull energy imprints out of the human energy field. Learn how to clear energy
imprints resulting from past life karma. Learn methods to esoterically dowse and interpret the blockages
in the human energy field.

29 years.

Rod McGrath, B.S., AOBTA Has been practicing and teaching  shiatsu and tai-chi for 19 years.
He has additional studies in deep muscle work, STR, and reflexology.

Heidi Bauder, CMT  Has been a massage therapist for 10 years specializing in Therapeutic
Massage, Hot Stone Massage, and Pregnancy Massage.

Sue Weiler, CMT, Esthetician Is a graduate of the Baltimore School of Massage and has been
a massage therapist for over 18 years. She has been an esthetician for 12 years and works in
plastic surgery office.

Mary Meyers, CMT, has been a massage therapists for 6 years and is a certified lifeguard.
She teaches Massage, First Aid, and CPR.

Rod McGrath Jr., M.S. has been practicing massage, shiatsu and STR for 9  years. He has additional studies in Hot Stone Massage, LaStone, Craniosacral, Lymph Drainage, Myofascial Release, Thai Massage, Lomi Lomi, Walk on Back Massage, Reiki, Tai Chi, and other techniques. 

Denise Snook is a certified herbalist and graduate of Penn State. She attended the Central Florida School of Herbal Studies and was an assistant to the school’s director. She is presently a senior apprentice to Rosemary Gladstar of Sage Mountain in Vermont. She is also a certified Bach Flower essence practitioner.

Cindy Kilgo Brooks is a Certified Master Instructor of Integrated Energy Therapy and has also trained in
Usui and Karuna Reiki. She has been teaching in Pennsylvania and New Jersey for many years. She also
teaches IET for children and pets, Healing Angels, Aromatherapy, and Karma Cleaning.

East West School of Massage has been instructing students since 1989. East-West is licensed by the
PA State Department of Education, and is a member of the AMTA council of schools.
